Zombies took over the Market Place in Salisbury last night. Around 100 of them came out at night but there was no need to be alarmed – they were all taking part in a world record attempt for the largest number of people dancing to Michael Jackson’s famous 1982 song’Thriller’.
Thrill the World is a global event in its sixth year and it is part Michael Jackson tribute and part charity fundraising event.
Dancers in 18 countries took part this year and the Salisbury zombies used the opportunity to fundraise for BBC Children in Need.
The ghoulish characters counted down to the official 8pm start (7pm GMT) and rose up from the ground providing a spooky spectacle for onlookers.
Organiser Steve Clegg led the dancers who had all attended workshops at Sarum Academy to learn the routine. Although this year was a good turnout, Steve hopes that next year will be even better as more people find out about the event.
