Sarum Voices’ perennial winter concert Christmas by Candlelight, with its entertaining mix of carols and festive readings, takes place in the beautiful candlelit surroundings of St Martin’s Church, Salisbury, on Saturday 17 December at 7.00pm.
Ben Lamb, Director of the choir, says “With music to transport you from the stresses and strains of Christmas in the consumer world and festive readings from our very own John Robinson, this popular concert is a musical journey from Advent to Christmas interspersed with entertaining readings which capture the mood of the season.”
This year’s concert also marks the release date of their latest CD Ero Cras which features much of the Advent and Christmas repertoire written by Ben for this concert over the past few years, including arrangements of the timeless Advent Antiphons which give the CD its unusual name. There is also a new setting of the medieval text Balulalow which receives its live premiere on the 17th.
Ticket, £10.00, from Salisbury Playhouse, telephone 01722 320333, and at the door.
