With Bowood House & Gardens closing for the winter this Sunday 1 November, this half term and Halloween week offers the last few chances to enjoy the House and Gardens and to catch Bowood’s autumnal colours in 2015
Youngsters heading to Bowood in the coming days can follow its special Halloween-themed trail that starts at the admission kiosk. Here children – accompanied by their parents – are provided with a small map with clues to lead them from one Bowood landmark to the next.
In this way, the trail will thread together Tractor Ted’s Little Farm, The Adventure Playground, the Terraces in front of Bowood House, the Boathouse, the Hermit’s Cave and the Doric Temple before finishing up in the birthday party rooms where children will collect a treat for completing the course that is likely to take an hour or so to cover.
These Halloween activities will run throughout this half-term week at Bowood (starting from 11am on Monday 26 through to 6pm on Saturday 31 October). In the birthday party rooms there will also be Halloween themed art sessions for children.
This Halloween Saturday itself there will be pumpkin carving, face painting and a fancy dress competition. The most inspiring costume will win a family season ticket (worth £162.50) for 2016 (with Bowood re-opening on Friday 25 March in time for Easter).
Although closing to the public for the winter season this Sunday, Bowood House will re-open specially for its annual three-day Bowood House Christmas Extravaganza from Wednesday 25 – Friday 27 November. (More details about the Extravaganza can be found at: http://www.bowood.org/event/bowood-house-christmas-extravaganza).
