A new event comes to Bowood House and Gardens this weekend with the Wiltshire Police Dog Display on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August.
This special attraction is designed for members of the public to gain a better appreciation of the police force’s work within the community.
The main show ring, on the grassed area near Bowood’s adventure playground, will feature a variety of demonstrations such as mock chases to apprehend criminals and sniffer dogs in action plus agility and obstacle courses.
There will be the chance to meet the dogs and their handlers from Wiltshire Police’s specialist dog handling unit who will be happy to chat and answer questions. There will be the opportunity too for a close-up look at police vehicles, for instance. A Crash vehicle manned by Roads Policing Team, a Marked Response vehicle, a Police Communications vehicle and a Firearms vehicle will all be exhibited. The Rural Crime Team will be present and there will be information around replica guns and on the dangers of carrying knives.
